PRESS RELEASE
** MEDICAL CENTRE**
“The school’s health Centre is not a dumping ground for fake or expired drugs” (DR. Adebayo Ismail Adewale, Medical Director, TOPS)
“You can’t go to a pharmaceutical company to buy drugs as an unregistered pharmacist” (Mr. Caleb Adejumobi, Dean Student Affair)
The rumors going round the school campus that fake and expired drugs and drips are used at the health Centre and are supplied by Dean, Students’ Affair are total lies fabricated by one faceless Ismail Shuaib Ajibola an ex-student of Building Tech Department of the Polytechnic Ibadan, Saki Campus. He deliberately wants to destabilize the peaceful and serene atmosphere of this Institution and to tarnish the good image of The Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki (TOPS). His ulterior motive is not known but we suspect his anger could be borne out of his frustration because he was not offered admission last session for his HND course because of the part he played in the last riot, by disseminating untrue information about increment of tuition fee that led to student uproar.
Medical Director, TOPS explained to press correspondents who visited him at the school medical centre last week that He is saddled with the responsibility to write out the list of drugs needed at the school health centre and forward it to the School Management through the Bursary Department where provisions will be made. He also mentioned the 3 qualified Suppliers he knew supplies drug to the School Medical Centre through the Management, which are Alaka Ola Pharmaceutical Ltd, Ajike Pharmacy and Perazim Pharmacy.
The Dean student Affair shed more lights on the issue last week; He said he had never administered drug to any student nor supplied drug to the Health Centre. He said the Institution didn’t record any death of student last session as a result of medical misconduct, except for those who died in a car crash and a male student who died of tetanus virus he had been infected from his home. He also mentioned the 3 drug supplier to the Institution. He then offered advice to students to stay away from rumors. The Dean cautioned that rumors like this is classified as general misconduct under the school constitution, and the punishment is expulsion from school.
Please be warned, as obedient is better than sacrifice. Press is watching you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Press Release on TOPS medical centre
An Interview with the Rector of Oke-Ogun Polytechnic Saki on Governor visitation on the 13th of December 2016.
PRESS: Sir to what you have seen today, what are feelings like?
RECTOR: I am happy, elated, and very extreme, at least for the first time, the Governor of Oyo state stepped into the Campus, so it is a nice feeling.
PRESS: As it is now Sir, you are elated and do you think anything positive can still come from his own Government to the school in terms of development?
RECTOR: As what we are witnessing is part of what he has done, you know if you look at the development striate of TOPS, we can say it has a result of autonomy granted to this school by His Excellency, Senator Abiola Ajimobi.
PRESS: So Sir, he said something which I picked “we all Citizens need to change our ways”, and from that Sir, is the school also and the Management trying to change their ways to bring a positive change continuously in this school?
RECTOR: If you see inspite of the economy recession, things are still moving here, so that is to tell you that we are trying to sacrifice a lot of things just to make sure that the development going on is not truncated, so we are going to give it all it takes, and of course once you get into the middle of the semester you will see a lot of new programs that will be rolled out that will better the lot of students.
PRESS: And from your own end Sir, and from your team end that is the Management Staff, The Rector, The Bursar, The Registrar, The Chief Librarian, and the Deputy Rector and the likes who are in the Management Team, should we be expecting at least an unbroken academic calendar session again?
RECTOR: Sure you know we have committed Staff, focused Student, and the Management is always willing to maintain that stability, of course maybe you have know or not, before January 2017, your results will be online, so you can access your result online, and for those that have graduated, processing of transcript will be online too, so all these bottle necks and the delays will be taking away at least for TOPS graduate. We started considering your result last week, so in the next 2 weeks we would have perfected everything, then we go online, you just pay a token, then your parent can check results, you also can check, then if you have a complain, you bring it up.
PRESS: Permit me to ask you this, in respect to the regularization fee been paid for last session, some people are yet to be accepted by that functions, that is been regularized, can you say anything on that Sir?
RECTOR: Whether TOPS Student paid, they didn’t believe us, we were trying to tell them that time that if you graduate without regularizing, it will become a personal and individual problem, lets go and do it for you now, but they refused. In fact one of them called me not long ago that their Head of Department said they should not pay. I said ok go and meet your HOD now to bail you out, so anything we are doing here at least this our regime, this our management is in the best interest of student, so trust us, believe us, we are not going to exploit you, we want to give you the best and that is why we are into this, but whatsoever we can do to clear the backlog, we are going to do it.
PRESS: For those who have paid Sir, when should they be expecting feedback and positive result?
RECTOR: We are going to announce the procedure, JAMB has change the procedure, JAMB will no longer accept bulk regularization. It’s going to be individual, so we will give each Department the procedure, you print out the form, I will sign, then we send to JAMB.
PRESS: Sir I will like to ask what are the provision the school is putting in place the poly Ibadan student that studiedt here?
RECTOR: Well, we will just process their result, drop it at Ibadan, all other things will be taking over by Ibadan, so that’s much we can say about that.
PRESS: The Governor talked about stopping of all subvention to Tertiary Institution in Oyo State, what’s your take on this Sir?
RECTOR: Well, we believe, you know we are young anyway, if you look at all the Tertiary Institution in Oyo State, ours is among the youngest, so but we are trusting, because we are trying to keep up with the pace, so that we have unbroken academic calendar, so we still discuss with him here, the management with his excellency, but we know it’s a matter of time, very shortly we will be able to resolve issues.
PRESS: Sir we checked on our portal that the closure of the payment of school fees is on the 16th of this month, how true is that Sir?
RECTOR: We are going to close the portal for now, you know we have delay here and there, we will give more time for the student, but this time around, when we get to January and we say the portal is closing, take us serious, it is going to close once and for all.
PRESS: Sir on the note of the Entrepreneur, that is EED class Sir, we notice, there is a bit increment on the fee and we don’t really know what things that has made it come up to that extent Sir?
RECTOR: Ok let me tell you what we want to do about this Entrepreneurship training, is to really upgrade to a point that you will collect certificate, and if you are collecting certificate, you wont be able to change from one trade to another, so you should be able to stand on your own. I was in Gravity FM last week, one of the student, you know it is a phone in programme, so she called that what she learnt here, she has been using it. So we want to decongest the class, we want to make the practical as it ought to be, so that why, and for us to be able to do that, you know we need to buy the consumables, then since it is attracting certificate now. So these are things we have brought together to have slightly increased it.
PRESS: Before you go sir, can you tell us a little about the next matriculation for the fresher’s Sir?
RECTOR: JAMB disrupted the admission process this year, JAMB change the rules a couple of times, so we are not able to process admission in good time, so that why we have delayed the matriculation. Admission will finally close, for fulltime, admission has closed, for DNP it will be closing late December, so hopefully first week or second week in January, matriculation will take place. And please inform all new students the criterion for matriculation will be payment of school fees.
PRESS: Sir I would like to ask when will the school have their first Convocation?
RECTOR: Because we want to respect Ibadan this year, you know we still have some of our students that graduated as The poly Ibadan student. So next year those who graduated this year will be coming for their graduation, but we will communicate the date anyway, management has not discussed on the date.
PRESS: Thank you Sir.

Nigeria police force is one of the best in the world – Vice president Yemi Osinbajo
Vice president Yemi Osinbajo has said the Nigeria Police Force is one of the very
best in the world.
According to him, the Nigerian Police personnel are better trained and equipped
than their counterparts in other countries, The Nation reports.
Vice president Yemi Osinbajo has said Nigeria Police is one of the very best in the
world as they are better trained than their counterparts.
Speaking on Thursday, September 1, while laying the foundation for the construction
of the Crime and Incident Data Base Centre at the Force Headquarters in Abuja,
Osinbajo promised that the government will continue to support the police to
achieve more successes, nationally and globally.
Osinbajo said: “The Nigeria Police is one of the very best that we have anywhere in
the world and I say so because I have worked with law enforcement agents for many
years. I have served in the United Nations special operations in the justice sector
like the UN Mission in Somalia for about a year and I saw Police Forces from
everywhere across the world.
“The Nigeria Police was there too and everybody admitted that they were possibly
the most effective on ground there in Somalia. They were effective because they
were better trained, better educated than every other Police Force that was there,
besides, they were well equipped by the UN.”
Nigeria police
The vice president also commended the establishment of a Crime and Incident Data
Base Centre for the Police.
He said the centre will go a long way in helping the police address crime using
technology, adding that Nigeria was ready for smart policing.
He said: “The direction that we should be going is smart policing. Policing that is
technology serving and based more on common sense and technology than just
manually doing everything.
“I think one of the most important things that this Crime Data Base Centre will do is
to equip the Police, to be able to do the kind of investigation that is required to cope
with crime today.”
He urged the Police to collaborate with other data processing agencies in the
country in order to fully utilize the centre.
