FINALLY OPENED
It was indeed a glorious day as many
dignitaries of this great Town, Management of this fantastic institution and
many were seen wearing a joyous smile to witness the commissioning of the newly
built ICT Centre at The Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki. (TOPS)yesterday 17th,
January 2017.
Present at the commissioning of the newly
built ICT Centre are the Honorable Minister for Communication- Barrister
Adebayo Shittu, Senator Abiola Ajimobi ablely represented by the Commissioner
for Education- Mr Femi Olowoyo, Bagii of Saki Land- Mr Kasali Adegoke, Former
JAMB Registrar- Professor Emeritus Dibu Ojerinde, The Permanent Secretary Oyo
State Government Ministry of Education- Mrs A.O Makanjuola, President Saki
Parapo- Mr Onifade, The Incumbent Rector of TOPS Mr M.O Oladeji, The Deputy
Rector- TPL Alabi, The Bursar- Mr Tijani Soliu, The Registrar- Mr O.O Ojewole,
The Chief Librarian- Mr O.A Osunrinade.
Also in attendance the CSO TOPS, P.A Rector,
Lecturers, Gravity FM Igboho, NTA Nigeria, Radio Nigeria, CAN president Saki
Branch, Muslim Association President, Women Leader, Youth Leader and many more.
The program was anchored by MC Mirinda the PRO
of TOPs, the opening prayer was said by the PA Rector.
The able Rector gave the first speech; he
greeted the Minister for funding the project. He made it known that the newly
built ICT Centre will serve as a Centre for UTME starting from this year. He also
made it known that the project was as a result of the discussion held at the
welcoming party for the Minister after his appointment last year.
Saki Parapo President- Mr Onifade also
commended the effort of the Minister; he also appreciated the presence of the former
Jamb registrar prof. Dibu. He gave a stupendous kudos to the Management of TOPS
for the initiative of other Projects. He later went on by seeking the help of
the minister and other dignitaries for
the completion of the building beside the newly built ICT Centre, a project
kick started by Saki Paropo, in which prof. Dibu responded by donating the sum
of 2.3million Naira to assist. The Minister also made a pledge to support in
the construction of other projects.
Prof. Emeritus Dibu Ojerinde also acclaimed
the effort of the Minister, the school management toward the construction of
the newly built ICT Centre in writing Jamb which will benefits the lot of Indigenous
students and others home and abroad.
After Prof. Dibu speech, The able Commissioner
for Education- Mr Femi Olowoyo gave his speech, on behalf of the Governor of
Oyo State, he commend the good deeds of the minister towards the improvement of
Saki town and Oyo sate generally. He spoke on LAUTECH strike, he said the
school will be reopened before the end of the month.
The minister gave the final speech of the day,
he greeted every dignitaries, the school management and everybody present at
the commissioning. He made it known that the ICT Centre is a project sponsored
by and funded by USPF- Universal Service Provisions Fund, a body under the
ministry of Communication, which by constitution he is the head. He advised the
School Management to make judicious use of the Centre for other business,
training Centre rather than Jamb Centre. He later went on to commission the
building, he moved round the inner room of the building, the security room,
where the CCTV is been controlled, and many other room. After the commissioning,
he took pictures with the management Staffs of TOPS, other dignitaries, he
later went round the Town to commission other projects before leaving for Lagos
to attend Federal Executives Council (FEC) meeting.
The Rector expressed his feelings to the
members of the press who interviewed him shortly after the departure of the
Minister of comm. From ICT Centre. He made it his happy feelings known and
assured that more projects will come in soon.
Prof. Dibu was also interviewed before leaving
for Ife, he congratulates the Management of TOPS, he emphasized on the
usefulness of the newly built ICT Centre for other business rather than jamb
Centre alone. He also stated that the Centre should be taken good care of.
